Introduction
The Safe Handgun Armed & Ready Program (SHARP) is a DBA of White Feather Interpreting, LLC. It consists of courses and seminars designed by the National Rifle Association (NRA). The course outline and instructional materials are provided by the NRA.
I also offer private lessons at an outdoor gun range for $50 per hour. You may bring your own handgun and ammo or I will supply handguns and ammo for an additional $40.
I am an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and and NRA Certified Refuse To Be A Victim® Instructor. I am also an NRA Certified Chief Range Safety Officer. The NRA takes education very seriously. The training to receive instructor certification from the NRA is rigorous and consists of both lecture time and range qualification. Once an instructor becomes certified, the NRA trusts that instructor to teach others the safe and competent use of firearms and of other methods to maximize personal safety.
I also take your education very seriously. I love shooting and have a commitment to promoting safe firearm handling for both self-defense and fun. As a Chief Range Safety Officer, I see all too many shooters who are frustrated and fearful simply because no one has taught them how to correctly handle a firearm. Handling a firearm incorrectly is not safe and is not fun.
I see too many loved ones and members of my community who lack knowledge about crime prevention techniques, either because they are overly confident or overly naive. Many victims of crime think they will never be a victim of crime – until they actually become one.
For these reasons, you can be confident that your if you take a SHARP shooting course you will learn everything you need to know to handle a pistol safely, competently, and, with practice, accurately. If you attend a Refuse To Be A Victim® seminar, you will learn comprehensive crime prevention and personal safety techniques.
Accessibility
I am a nationally certified interpreter for the Deaf. If you are Deaf and use American Sign Language or know someone who is Deaf and an ASL user, I’m happy to offer shooting classes or Refuse To Be A Victim® in ASL.
I designed this website to be fully accessible. Aside from behind the scenes accessibility features there are 2 accessibility options located in the black area to the far right of the right sidebar: toggle high contrast, toggle font size. Mouseover reveals their labels. If you have low vision I encourage you to use a proper screen magnifier such as ZoomText or Magic, or on a MAC its built-in magnifier. On a MAC you can also press Command + to increase font size. I bailed from the Windows environment some years ago so I don’t remember its accessibility shortcuts but I do remember that at the time its built-in accessibility options were at best anemic. If you are a screenreader user and find accessibility issues here, please let me know so I can correct them. I’m not a guru of VoiceOver and WindowEyes but I’m pretty adept at using Jaws. And yes, persons who have low vision or are blind can indeed learn to shoot safely and accurately.
This website is always under development so visit often as I will continue to add more information.
